DiplomatsWho are Chamber Diplomats? Diplomats are individuals that take the lead in supporting many of the Chamber objectives and activities. What opportunities are available to Chamber Diplomats? 1. Recognition at Chamber
functions *Diplomats are not expected to participate in every event, although exposure to business prospects is enhanced in direct proportion to the number of people you meet. Diplomats will also receive their name badges after attending a minimum of 2 events and paying a $5 fee for the badge. Welcoming Committee The Welcoming
Committee is the Chamber's way of thanking new and renewing Chamber
members in a Publishers Clearing House © style. Diplomats meet
at the Chamber Tower at 2:00 PM once a month for preparation prior
to leaving in vans provided by Enterprise. We deliver flowers (compliments
of Sparks Florist) and welcome the new or renewing member. You have
the opportunity to include your company's brochure in a "goodie
bag" that is given to everyone we visit. You can include pens,
coffee cups and all different sorts of swag in the bags, so be inventive!
There should be a lead person in each van who will explain the purpose
of the visit, what the Chamber and the Diplomats offer. The lead person
will then open it up for your introductions. Diplomats are encouraged
to hand out their business cards to the individuals we visit. Another
hint: Pick up the member's card to make a follow-up phone call and
further promote you or your company. It's also a good idea to send
a note card to each business you've visited. It helps you to be remembered.
Spending time together is a great way to learn more about your fellow
Diplomats as well as making new business contacts. Be sure that you
have the materials for the side by side visits as well. This is information
related to the Chamber and will encourage the business to become a
Chamber member if they are not already. If they are a member, it is
a reinforcement of what the Chamber offers and encourages them to
take part and take advantage of what the Chamber offers. The vans
return to the Chamber between 4:30 and 5:00pm. Reno Sparks Chamber Diplomat Calendar 2008 Monthly Diplomat Meetings Diplomats meet on the 1st Wednesday of the month at 4:00 PM at the Chamber Tower. The purpose of this one- hour meeting is to learn more about Chamber activities and coordinate future Diplomat events. New Diplomat orientation is conducted quarterly at 3:00 PM and everyone is invited to attend. Light refreshments are served. And don't forget that nametag!
Schedule: Welcoming Committee: Schedule If you are driving
the vans are at Enterprise
located at 809 W.
4th Street #328-1671 (cross
street is Keystone). Sparks
Florist kindly donates the
flowers each time. Ribbon-Cuttings The most important
duty of the Diplomat at a ribbon cutting is to ATTEND! Ribbon-cuttings
are often for very small businesses so a strong showing of attendees
demonstrates the appreciation and support they receive from the Reno-Sparks
Chamber. Plan on arriving 10-15 minutes early so that you can be briefed
on any specific procedures related to this event. The Council Chair,
Committee Chair, or appointed Chamber representative will give the
"Welcome Speech" and present a plaque. If the Chamber CEO
or Chairman of the Board is present, they give the presentation. Diplomats
hold the ribbon on both sides and may or may not be included in the
picture. If asked to be in the picture, please stand behind any company
representatives. Please be respectful of the company's wishes. Mixers Your name badge serves several important purposes: · It
helps others learn and remember your name During mixers
make yourself available to everyone! You are a co-host so mingle and
visit with as many people as possible. Pay particular attention to
attendees who are sitting or standing alone. New members or guests
may feel uncomfortable if they don't know anyone. You can draw them
into the festivities. What a great way to socialize, make new business
contacts and promote your business.
These breakfast
meetings are on the 2nd Thursday of the month. Plan on arriving at
7:30 AM to network. The formal presentation is over at 9:00 AM. To
maximize your business opportunities, please sit with people you don't
know. Did we mention to wear your Diplomat nametag? Take the lead
at your table in exchanging business cards. Everyone should walk away
with 7 or 8 new business contacts. Each attendee gets to stand and
introduce him or herself, the name of the company they represent and
a very brief description of services or products offered. The entire
process is limited to 10 seconds, so Diplomats are expected to lead
by example. Please be sure to RSVP for the breakfast each month. Golf, Luncheons, Tradeshow, Speaker Series, Directions Opportunities Click here for dates and locations for Breakfast,
